Naiberg to head technology transfer at UCLA

After 15 years at Yeda Research and Development Co. Ltd., the technology transfer arm of the Weizmann Institute of Science, five in the role of General Counsel and a decade as CEO, Amir Naiberg has accepted an offer from the University of California, Los Angeles to serve as Associate Vice Chancellor for the Office of Intellectual Property and Industry Sponsored Research. Naiberg will also be president and CEO of the UCLA’s technology transfer company. Gil Granot-Mayer, who is presently serving as Yeda’s Deputy CEO and General Counsel, will take over as CEO.

"Amir's term at Yeda has been full of achievements and success," says Vice President for Technology Transfer at the Weizmann Institute of Science, and Chairman of Yeda, Prof. Mordechai (Mudi) Sheves. "These include the establishment of many companies based on technologies born in the laboratories of the Institute’s scientists, fostering and strengthening relationships with the private sector, enforcement of the Institute’s intellectual property rights worldwide and fostering the esteem of Yeda's name and that of the Weizmann Institute of Science."

He left his mark on Yeda and on the way it operates in the field of technology transfer.”

Gil Granot-Mayer has served as Yeda’s General Counsel for a decade; for the past three years he has concurrently served as Deputy CEO of the company. Prof. Sheves: "Gil has made a great contribution to Yeda in his prudent management of the company's legal affairs, while maintaining fair relations with all the entities he's worked with. As Deputy CEO of Yeda, Gil has taken part in all the company's major proceedings in recent years, and he has extensive experience in transferring technology from the laboratories of scientists to the private sector. I am confident Gil will promote Yeda and lead it to new heights."

גיל גרנות-מאיר התמנה למנכל "ידע". יחליף את אמיר נייברג שעובר לתפקיד נשיא ומנכ"ל חברת היישומים של אוניברסיטת קליפורניה בלוס-אנג'לס UCLA.

לאחר 15 שנות עבודה ב"ידע", מתוכן חמש בתפקיד היועץ המשפטי של החברה, ועשור כמנכ"ל, החליט אמיר נייברג לקבל הצעה מאוניברסיטת קליפורניה בלוס אנג'לס UCLA, ולעבור לכהן בתפקיד סגן-נשיא משותף לקניין רוחני ולמחקר ממומן בידי התעשייה. במקביל ימלא אמיר גם את תפקיד נשיא ומנכ"ל חברת היישומים של האוניברסיטה. גיל גרנות-מאיר, שכיהן בשנים האחרונות כיועץ המשפטי וכמשנה למנכ"ל "ידע", התמנה למנכ"ל החברה.

גיל גרנות-מאיר עובד ב"ידע" עשר שנים כיועץ משפטי. בשלש השנים האחרונות כיהן במקביל כמשנה למנכ"ל "ידע". פרופ' שבס: "גיל תרם תרומה גדולה מאוד ל'ידע', בניהול נבון של ענייניה המשפטיים של החברה, תוך יצירת יחסים הוגנים מול כל הגורמים מולם עבד. כמשנה למנכ"ל 'ידע', היה גיל שותף לכל מהלכיה העיקריים של החברה בשנים האחרונות, והוא בעל ניסיון רב בתחום העברת טכנולוגיות ממעבדותיהם של המדענים למגזר הפרטי. אני בטוח שגיל יקדם את 'ידע' ויצעידה לשיאים חדשים.
