Mr. Gil Granot-Mayer
Chief Executive Officer
About:

Gil Granot-Mayer holds an MBA degree from the Leon Recanati Graduate School of Business Administration and an LL.B. degree from Tel-Aviv University. Mr. Granot-Mayer was appointed as Yeda’s C.E.O in 2016 after having served as Deputy C.E.O and General Counsel of Yeda for 10 years. Prior to joining Yeda, Mr. Granot-Mayer worked in prominent law firms both as a commercial lawyer and as a litigator specializing in Intellectual Property, Cyberspace Law, E-commerce and Banking.

Dr. Igal Ilouz
VP Business Development Physical Sciences
About:

Igal Ilouz holds a Ph.D. in physics from the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology. Dr. Ilouz brings forward extensive managerial experience in business development of innovative technologies in a wide variety of companies and has broad technology expertise in various fields. He specializes in identifying the business value proposition of new technologies in meeting market demands and trends. Prior to joining YEDA, his most recent positions were: a technology and business development consultant for medical device companies; Global Marketing Director of new segments at Lumenis (formerly, the world’s largest energy-based medical device company); Co-founder and CEO of two medical device startup companies.

Dr. Shay Sela
VP Business Development Life-Sciences
About:

Shay Sela holds a Ph.D. in Vascular and Molecular Biology from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel where he was awarded the prestigious Einstein Scholarship. Upon graduation, he continued to a postdoc position at University of Texas Southwestern (UTSW) in Dallas, Texas, where he studied novel muscle and heart genes and their function in physiology and pathology.

Since his transition to industry, Dr. Sela has held diverse executive positions in the field of biotech, focusing on scouting and assessing opportunities, as well as business development.  In his current position, Dr. Sela serves as VP Business Development for Life Sciences at Yeda, the commercial arm of the Weizmann Institute of Science In Rehovot, Israel.

Mr. Meir Fast
Chief Financial Officer
About:

Meir Fast (C.P.A. Israel) holds an MBA degree from the Graduate School of Business Administration, University of Bar-Ilan, as well as B.A. degree in economics and accounting from the University of Bar-Ilan. Prior to joining Yeda in 2007, Mr. Fast worked for Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd as the financial manager of the Prescription Medicines & Israeli Healthcare Organizations Business and prior to that as the financial controller of the Israeli Pharma division and of the International Pharma division.

Adv. Aaron Jaffe
General Counsel
About:

Aaron Jaffe holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree from Tel Aviv University, and has been admitted to practice law in Israel and New York. Prior to joining Yeda, Mr. Jaffe served as general counsel of two publicly-traded technology companies and was an associate attorney at Yigal Arnon & Co., a leading Israeli law firm.

Dr. Ruth Granoth
Chief Intellectual Property Officer
About:

Ruth Granoth holds a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the Weizmann Institute of Science. Prior to joining Yeda in 2002, Dr. Granoth had an internship as a patent attorney with a leading patent attorney firm and served as External Relations manager dedicated to the Israeli market for Procter & Gamble (NYSE:PG), the multi-national consumer goods company.

Dr. Ronen Kreizman
Licensing Director
About:

Ronen Kreizman holds a Ph.D. in Nanoscience from the Weizmann Institute of Science and M.Sc. and B.Sc. in Materials Engineering, both from Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. Prior to joining YEDA R&D, Dr. Kreizman was a senior management consultant with Deloitte Consulting, the world's largest consulting firm, where he assumed key roles in strategy and business development projects for leading companies in the fields of Energy, Cleantech and Process Industries. Prior to that, Ronen served as the R&D manager and team leader in NIS-Israel (NanoMaterials), where he led the development of high-performance composite materials and coatings based on innovative nano-particles.

Dr. Orly Savion
Licensing Director
About:

Orly Savion is a Licensing Director, in charge of commercializing technologies developed by the Weizmann Institute scientists with the aim of bringing inventions into beneficial products for the good of society. Orly focuses on the field of biotechnology, including agro-technology and research tools.  Orly holds a Ph.D. in Life Science from the Weizmann Institute of Science focusing on the adhesion structure of osteoclasts, bone degrading cells.  She also holds a MSc and BSc in Biotechnology and Food Engineering from the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology. During her MSc, Orly focused on Iron metabolism with relation to Inflammatory Bowel Disease. Orly has vast experience in many different lab equipment and techniques used in chemistry, life science and food technology research areas.

Mr. Yaacov Cohen
Comptroller
About:

Ya'acov Cohen holds a B.A. degree from Tel Aviv University and is an accredited taxation consultant. A former research assistant at Tel Aviv University and a high-school instructor, Mr. Cohen became a comptroller at a CPA office, and Chief Financial Officer of Nitzan, the Israeli organization for children with learning disabilities. Mr. Cohen joined Yeda in 1993.

Prof. Eli Hazum
Head of the Internal Development Enhancement and Acceleration program (IDEA)
About:

Eli Hazum did his BSc in chemistry and MSc in organic chemistry, both at Tel Aviv University. He completed a PhD in the field of hormone research at the Weizmann Institute of Science in 1978. Following postdoctoral research in neurobiology at Wellcome Co., North Carolina, he joined the Weizmann Institute in 1981 as a Senior Scientist in the field of hormone-receptor interactions, progressing to the rank of Associate Professor. In 1988, he launched an R&D career, serving first as head of the Department of Metabolic Diseases at GSK in North Carolina, where he was also a member of the Corporate Committee for New Technology Identification. Back in Israel in 1992, he assumed executive research and development positions at Biotechnology General Corp. (Ferring), was vice president for R&D at Peptor Ltd, and consulted various venture capitals and Israel’s Chief Scientific Officer. Over the last 25 years, he has served as a General Partner and CSO at Medica VC and as board member in a few biotech companies. Eli has also taken leadership roles within Medica portfolio companies, including interim CEO for Collgard Biopharmaceuticals and Ester Neurosciences, where he was responsible for executing Ester’s acquisition by Amarin Pharmaceuticals and presently he is the CEO of PainReform Ltd. Currently, Eli is heading the internal development enhancement and acceleration program (IDEA) at Yeda.
Eli is the author of more than 100 scientific publications and patents in various areas of research and drug development. He also holds an executive MBA degree from the University of Humberside, Lincoln, UK.

About:

Neta Pessah holds a Ph.D. in Medicinal chemistry and PK from the Hebrew University. Prior to joining Yeda, Dr. Pessah held project managing positions in the biotech and Pharma industries.

Legal Counsel
About:

Daniel Light holds a Bachelor of Commerce from McGill University and an LL.B. from Hebrew University. Prior to joining Yeda, Daniel was an associate at S. Horowitz & Co., a private law firm acknowledged for its expertise in the areas of intellectual property, dispute resolution, banking and finance (among other areas).
